Loft Conversion With Rear Dormer in Sheffield

November 4th, 2011

I got planning permission to convert the loft and add a large rear dormer and two front facing roof windows to this detached house in Halfway, Sheffield.

The client wanted a pool table and space to relax with friends, there wasn’t room in the house for this as they had two young children. A loft conversion was a great way for them to gain a lot of much needed room.

The couple were really pleased with the work, there was hardly any mess in the main part of the house as the builders accessed the loft through the roof. The work was all completed in around 10 weeks, including painting and installing the T.V’s and the pool table.

Dormer Alteration in Totley, Sheffield

November 3rd, 2011

I obtained planning permission to alter the shape and size of the existing dormer on this detached bungalow in Totley.

As you can see from one of the pictures below, the previous dormer was so small that it served no real purpose. By increasing the size of the dormer, this client turned an unusable space in to a good sized bath and shower room.

My work took around a week to complete. This included going to the house, doing an initial survey and obtaining measurements. I had design meetings with the client then began getting the plans ready to submit in order to obtain planning permission and building control approval.

The couple were very pleased with the work which was all completed in around 8 weeks. This meant that they could move on to furnishing and decorating the bathroom. They were also happy to finally have a bathroom upstairs, making access easier and more private.

Nether Edge New Offroad Parking Area

November 28th, 2010

I obtained planning permission to build an off-road parking area for the bungalow at Nether Edge.

The client wanted this because parking had become difficult on the road due to the amount houses who didn’t have off road parking either. So now he is very pleased to not have to worry about this again.

As you can see from the finished photo, the materials used match very well with the existing materials of the house and wall, this is because the property is in a conservation area so the planners placed conditions on the materials to be used.
