Creating an Extra Bedroom Without Losing Driveway Space
Adding an extra bedroom doesn’t always require a full two-storey extension or sacrificing your driveway and garden access. A first-floor extension can provide the additional space you need while maintaining car parking, rear garage access, and outdoor usability.
The Challenge
Our client loved their home and its location, but needed an extra bedroom to comfortably accommodate visiting children and grandchildren. They were happy with the existing ground floor layout and wanted to avoid the disruption and cost of altering it. Additionally, preserving driveway space and access to the rear garage was a key priority.
The Solution
We designed a first-floor side extension that seamlessly blends with the original brickwork and roof of the property. Our structural engineering expertise enabled us to design steel beams and posts, we eliminated the need for bulky brick columns, ensuring a clean and modern design while maximizing driveway space.
The Outcome
The result is a stylish, practical extension that not only provides a valuable extra bedroom but also creates a sheltered carport and enhances the side entrance to the property. Access to the rear garage is still available. The kerb appeal of the property is unquestionable, and of course the addition of an extra bedroom in this very popular area will be an investment that grows and grows.
